Xoagub has been confirmed as President of the Namibian National Olympic
Committee (NNOC) at last week’s General Assembly following his nearly seven
month stint as the Committee’s acting President.
who was the only candidate nominated for the position at the General Assembly,
provisionally led the NNOC after the resignation of Hon. Madame Agnes
Tjongarero who was appointed Deputy Minister for Sport, Youth and National
Service in March.
long-time administrator had been Vice President since January 2013 before
taking over from Hon. Tjongarero. He will be in power at least until November
2016 when the NNOC will hold their next elective General Assembly in line with
the Olympic cycle.
Jesse Schickerling, former Executive Board member, was elected as new Vice
President while Johan Kruger was added as additional board member.
Namibian sport administrators Jason Snyders and Annastacia Namases attended a
Doping Education Course that was convened by the Regional Anti-Doping
Organisation (RADO) in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Kamanga, RADO coordinator and two education officers of the South African
Institute for Drug Free Sport (SAIDS) conducted the four day course which
focused on doping education, education literature, material and education
programs to share with athletes and coaches.
the last day they attended a workshop organised by the South African Sports
Council and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) and presented by Sports Doctors on the
use of supplements. This was based on the
fact that most of the recent supplements included an illegal substance.
NNOC will meet on December 2 to prepare an action plan that will include
training of more officers and rolling out of the programs during 2016.
