The Namibian National Olympic Committee (NNOC) would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Thomas Bach on winning the elections for the presidency of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The NNOC is looking forward to work with German national and taking the Olympic Movement to new heights.
At the same time the NNOC wants to thank the outgoing President Jacques Rogge for the work he has done and for the vision with which he lead the IOC. His passion for the youth, the introduction of the Youth Olympic Games (YOC) with the emphasis on education, sport and culture and to the way he lived the vision of the IOC founder, Pierre de Coubertin, is absolutely commendable.
Furthermore the NNOC would like to applaud the members of the IOC for having voted to keep wrestling an Olympic sport. “Wrestling is a well represented sport in Namibia and we strongly believe it has a bright future all over the world” said the Vice President of the NNOC, Abner Xoagub.
Last but defiantly not least, the NNOC congratulates the Japanese delegation for their work to bring the Summer Games 2020 to Tokyo. The NNOC believes the games will be a great success and is looking forward to participating with the Namibian delegation.
